PETE BURNS' P.A. Living T.V

A SUPER chef is looking forward to seeing one of his creations featured on national TV after being asked to bake the wedding cake for a mystery celebrity.

Professional chef Trevor Cruickshank was approached to see if he would make the wedding cake for the celebrity, being featured in a new reality programme for Living TV.

With details of the wedding being kept secret, Mr Cruick-shank was not told who the cake was for, but was given details about the bespoke design and just two days to get the job finished before the cake was needed in London for filming last Friday.

Mr Cruickshank, 30, said: "I got asked to take part after receiving a phone call from someone involved with the show who had seen my website, so I was quite lucky.

"I had no idea who the cake was for, but was told they wanted it made in the style of the heart symbol from the film Romeo and Juliet, with roses and thorns.

"It's only the second heart-shaped cake I've made. It was a lot of work, but I'm pleased with how it turned out."

Mr Cruickshank, who is originally from Canada, had been working as a professional chef for some years before turning his hand to cake-making about six years ago.

"It was interesting to try to get the cake finished in time as, usually, you have a lot more time to plan things and get organised. It was also strange not to have any input from the customer," he said.

"It does make the whole thing a little bit more difficult as you don't know what the person is like and what their reaction will be."

After rushing the cake up to London last Friday morning, Mr Cruickshank, who runs his cake business and website www.cruickshankcakes.com from his home in Borodin Close, Basingstoke, finally found out who the cake was for - but he is remaining tight-lipped about his client.

"When I found out who the cake was for, I understood |the gothic theme," he said. "I haven't yet heard what the couple thought of the cake, but I hope they liked it."
